What are access codes
An access code is a one-time code you generate in your store and hand out (yourself) to give someone access to a product without paying.
When access codes are useful
Section titled “When access codes are useful”- Free access for friends, partners, beta testers, contributors.
- Prizes and giveaways.
- Selling outside Grouptizer (in cash, bank transfer, etc.) and granting access manually with a code.
- Replacing a lost subscription as a goodwill gesture.
How they work
Section titled “How they work”- Each code is a 12-character string of letters and numbers (e.g.
A3B7K2X9P4M1). - A code unlocks a specific set of products you choose.
- A code can be lifetime (no expiration) or time-limited (e.g. 30 days, 6 months, 1 year).
- A code can be redeemed only once. Once redeemed, it’s tied to that buyer’s account.
What’s the difference vs a Stripe purchase
Section titled “What’s the difference vs a Stripe purchase”- No Stripe involved. No charge, no fee, no commission to Grouptizer. The purchase is recorded as
access_code, not as a payment. - The buyer still needs a Grouptizer account to redeem.
- The buyer still appears in your customer list (and counts as your customer for customer conditions).
- Access codes don’t trigger the “first sale” notification.
- Reviews are allowed for access code purchases, just like paid ones.
Limits
Section titled “Limits”- Up to 100 unredeemed codes per store at any time.
- You generate them in batches of 1, 5 or 10.
- Once redeemed, codes don’t count against the limit.
