Bot permissions and privacy

The Grouptizer bot is an admin in your channel or group only so it can manage members. It does not read messages, neither yours nor the group members’.

The exact permissions it needs are in the Connect a channel or group guide.

Technically, the bot subscribes to only two Telegram events:

  • my_chat_member — when its own membership or permissions in the chat change (you added it, removed it, changed its permissions).
  • chat_join_request — when a user requests to join the channel or group via the invite link, so it can approve or reject based on that user’s purchases.

No other Telegram events reach the bot. That means it does not receive:

  • The messages you post in the channel.
  • The conversations between group members.
  • Files, images, audio or any other content.

Why Telegram says “can read all messages”

Section titled “Why Telegram says “can read all messages””

When you make a bot an admin, Telegram may show “can read all messages” or similar. That’s something Telegram displays based on the bot’s configuration. The Grouptizer bot is configured with privacy mode enabled, so it only receives messages explicitly directed at it (commands like /start). Everything else is never delivered.

If a buyer asks: the bot needs admin rights to approve entries and remove members when their access ends, but it does not read what’s posted inside the channel or group.
