Reconnect Stripe with a different account
You can disconnect Stripe and connect a different Stripe account. The new account works for new sales, but the old subscriptions stay on the old Stripe account, and a few things on Grouptizer need a manual touch.
What carries over
Section titled “What carries over”- Your store, products, prices and Telegram integrations stay exactly as they were.
- Your customer list and purchase history stay on your Grouptizer dashboard.
What changes
Section titled “What changes”- Old subscriptions belong to the old Stripe account. Stripe keeps charging the buyers on the old account; Grouptizer can no longer see those charges. The old account is now effectively orphaned in Grouptizer.
- Old payment method entries on prices are marked stale. When you list your prices, you’ll see entries that say something like “Stripe account no longer connected” — those are leftovers from the previous account.
- You must re-enable the new Stripe account on each price. New buyers can only check out through a payment method that’s enabled. After reconnecting, open each price and tick the new Stripe account so buyers can use it.
- Disconnect the old account (see Disconnect Stripe with active subscriptions).
- Connect the new Stripe account on the same Payment methods screen.
- Open each product’s prices. For every price, tick the new Stripe account under Payment methods.
- (Optional) Cancel the old subscriptions in the old Stripe dashboard if you want them stopped.
Why old subscriptions can’t be moved
Section titled “Why old subscriptions can’t be moved”Stripe doesn’t allow subscriptions to be transferred from one Stripe account to another. The buyer’s saved payment method is tied to the original account. There’s no API to migrate them.
If you need every old subscription to move:
- Cancel all old subscriptions in the old Stripe account (set “cancel at period end” so buyers aren’t surprised).
- Tell your buyers to subscribe again on your store. Their new subscription will run on the new account.
